Definition of Carbon Emissions
Corporate carbon emissions refer to the direct and indirect emissions of six types of greenhouse gases by a company over a specific period (usually one year). These gases include: carbon dioxide (CO₂), methane (CH₄), nitrous oxide (N₂O), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), perfluorocarbons (PFCs), and sulfur hexafluoride (SF₆). These emissions are often expressed in terms of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO₂e).
