Astaxanthin is a kind of fat-soluble ketocarotenoid, which is also commonly known as astaxanthin, astaxanthin and lobster shell pigment. Due to its safety and high biological activity, astaxanthin is widely extracted from natural raw materials of Rhodococcus pluvium. The chemical name of astaxanthin is 3, 3' -dihydroxy-4, 4' -diketo-β, β' -carotene, its structure is similar to β-carotene, but the antioxidant of astaxanthin is stronger, and many foods with astaxanthin have appeared on the market at present, relatively speaking, foreign related products are more abundant.
In China, astaxanthin ingredients also appear in the ingredient list of some registered health food, and its product function claims to enhance immunity. In addition, in 2010, Rhodococcus pluvium (one of the sources of astaxanthin) was approved as a new resource food, with the total astaxanthin content (in terms of all-trans astaxanthin) in the quality requirements ≥ 1.5%, and the consumption requirement ≤0.8 g/ day.
In order to help enterprises manage the risk of astaxanthin in raw materials and products, we have developed a method for the detection of astaxanthin in health food substrates.
At present, astaxanthin detection has corresponding national standard and industry standard methods, but there are certain limitations, especially in terms of accuracy and applicability. In order to ensure the accuracy of astaxanthin content in health food, it is necessary to optimize and standardize the existing detection techniques.
Through the optimization of the method, Ti and Food Nong have successfully developed the detection capability of astaxanthin for health food substrates, and verified the feasibility of the method from various aspects such as specificity, accuracy, precision, detection limit and quantitative limit.
