This initiative aims to encourage companies to set climate science-based emission reduction targets (Science-Based Targets, SBTs), defining the extent and pace of future greenhouse gas emission reductions. The goal is to align with the Paris Agreement's objective of limiting global temperature rise to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, ensuring that corporate emission reduction efforts are consistent with global climate goals.
Since its introduction in 2015, the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has rapidly gained widespread global recognition. Setting science-based targets has now become an international business norm.
